Project Marmaray

The dream project of Turkey, Marmaray is a rail and pedestrian tunnel connecting the two continents, Europe and Asia undersea. Marmaray is the world's deepest immersed tube tunnel at 60.46 metres (198.4 ft) This project has been the dream of Turkey for centuries and the completion of the project took 10 years.

TBM Drilling Engines were used to create the pedestrian tunnel and the drilling distance is 150 meters. Two Caterpıllar gen-sets with 900 kVA and one Olympian gen-set with 400 kVA were used and synchronized with InteliGen NT modules. The tunnelling operation took one and a half months, drilling 24 hours a day. The comissioning of the project was handled by Mr. Mehmet Gocmener, Mr. Ahmet Ulutezel, and Mr. Ugur Sırın.
