The data center Ostschweiz is in Gais near St. Gallen, at an altitude of 912 meters where the air is cold and the mountains at the front door. The data center is owned by St. Gallen Appenzellischer Kraftwerk AG and the St. Galler Stadtwerke. The data center Ostschweiz is one of the greenest data centers in Europe. At 912 m the air is so cold that we can cool the data center during the whole year by using ambient air. The system is very efficient, with photovoltaic panels on the roof and the building façade, so it generates more energy than the data centre needs. So it can be exported to a local cheese factory for them to use.
